Area Info

Our little corner of the world has some of the most beautiful scenery in the entire Rocky Mountain West. An old sage once called it "the land of high altitudes and low multitudes". The greater Yellowstone region is considered to be the largest intact temperate zone ecosystem in the world. We enjoy skiing in serene areas, hiking up pristine wilderness trails and fishing on wild rivers, just to name a few. These outdoor experiences combined with engaging town activities make for a full and interesting lifestyle. One side benefit of living in Wyoming is our incredible mineral wealth including oil, gas, and coal. Because of this, the people of Wyoming enjoy very low taxes, including low sales tax, low property taxes, and no state income tax. Friendly people, clean air and water, and plenty of opportunity are just a few of the reasons we love it here. We welcome you too!

Powell sits in the famous Big Horn Basin and is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges in every direction. A college town, its economy is also based on farming and industry. Northwest College is a two year college with an outstanding reputation throughout the entire region. The college offers a variety of activities and opportunities both to students and the people in the area. Powell's optimistic outlook and excellent infrastructure was commended when it was selected as an "All American City" a few years back.

Nestled at the base of soaring mountains, Cody is Buffalo Bill's home town. Cody is famous for its beautiful setting, its awesome attractions, and being a primary gateway to Yellowstone. Don't miss the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, often called the "Smithsonian of the West", the Cody Night Rodeo every night in the summer and the Cody Stampede over the 4th of July. Other attractions include Trail Town, area dude ranches, the beautiful Buffalo Bill Reservoir and Dam Visitor Center.

Big Horn County lies East of Cody and Powell and is just west of the awesome Big Horn Mountain range. Lovell and its surrounding communities of Frannie, Deaver, Byron, and Cowley are in the northern part of the County. Roses thrive here making Lovell the "Rose City of Wyoming". Residents and visitors enjoy the Big Horn Canyon and Reservoir, Devil's Canyon Lookout, and herds of wild mustangs. Greybull and its smaller communities of Basin, Burlington, Shell, and Manderson are in the southern part of the county. Shop where real ranchers buy their wares and enjoy a hometown atmosphere where visitors are still treated as favored guests.
